CARC in Africa
So what is an organization geared to the promotion of sustainable development in Canada’s North doing in Africa? The connections are not immediately obvious, but they are important. People who’ve been following CARC’s work over the past few years know that we have been involved in working to diminish the threat to Arctic peoples and the environment that flows from persistent organic pollutants (POPs). Pollutants such as PCBs and pesticides have been making their way to the Arctic, travelling thousands of kilometres through wind and water, and building up in Arctic food chains.
